Good to see new videos coming.
I checked youtube every day to see that maybe you have done a new video.
I have some questions about your greenhouse.
Did that plastic cover come with the shelf or did you got it somewhere else?
And is the one side opened like in the video or so you usually keep it closed?

good to hear from you, i really love all your plants, the sphagnum moss looks really nice, i have a question about the lights though, so you said theres like two flourescent ones and one up top, so are any of them UV or whatever, id like a indoor greenhouse but im confused about what lights i will need. Is flourescent like normal bulbs, dont plants need UV to grow? ahh!

  • Reptiliatus

    Hi there,
Thanks, yes they are really awsome plants :D ! I will be doing a video on propagating/growing spaghnum moss soon! Florescent bulbs generally are those that emmit alot of light and hardly any heat, They are available as long tube lights or smaller spiral like bulb. I use 4 florescent spiral bulbs and 1 zoo-med reptisun 10.0 uvb reptile bulb since alot of my plants would experience alot of light which would naturally include UVB.

  • Reptiliatus

The more lights you can safely include without overheating, or overincreasing the required amount of light for the species your growing the better. For example growing a Heliamphora ssp. (ssp. aka species) will require lots of light but cool night temperatures. Finding a balance between both is crucial to the husbandry of this genus and having a thermometre that mesures temperature as well as a hydrometre for humidity will be very beneficial if not necessary. Hope this helps!

Hey when you were at home depot did you happen to see any giant nepenthes in hanging baskets?

  • metaknight4I

Oh 1 more thing, do you know why my purprea’s leaves are turning brown before they even mature? I cant find the answer any where.

  • Reptiliatus

Hmmm, it sounds to me like your keeping the plant too dry… Try keeping it more humid and see what happens. Surprisingly Sarracenia and dionaea don’t require very high humidity.

  • Reptiliatus

    No there weren’t any sorry…

  • vardesigns

you need a bit more light man. Many of those CPs seem to be starving for light.

  • Reptiliatus

I know… Thanks for the pointer… The neps are doing amazing, so are the pings but the droseras weren’t producing much dew and the ceph was stretching. I just added a T12 growlight to the green house which should help alot! It’s hanging a few inches above the plants and I put the ceph right under it since T12′s hardly give of any heat.

  • Reptiliatus

Hi, ya sorry about that delay with videos! Yes the greenhouse has a plastic cover on it to hold humidity. This came with it btw. The front of the cover has a zipper door that I have open ahead of time in my videos for convenience. Hope this helps! :)

why does ur nepenthes miranda not have any pitchers?

why does ur nepenthes miranda not have any pitchers?

  • Reptiliatus

@vietkid28 Sorry for the late reply! I removed this plant from the mother plant so it took awhile to acclimate itself… I just checked on it and it has a nice big pitcher coming right now! :) Mother plant is starting to send down some tendrils too that should swell in no time either… The thing with neps is it’s totally common for them to not have any pitchers in the winter because most start coming in the spring. Dayyan :)

@Reptiliatus oh i see! thats nice man… i have a pretty big miranda myself:)
